The Climber

Really love the way this piece has come out. Been educating myself by watching other artists and have learnt a lot from Marc Brunet’s channel on YouTube. I’ve been experimenting with his approach to light which has added a bit of extra pop to my drawings. This was sketched off an Instagram post by my old friend Karl Bromelow who emigrated to Oz a decade + ago. His son Kai has taken up Karl’s passion for climbing, and although this isn’t Kai the pose is a direct take of a picture of him bouldering. I’ve still got a way to go in really pushing the interface of light and shade. I’m still bottling it and blending them out too much. I’ll get there eventually.
